Today's DIY is a fun thing even kids could do!

It is a silver/gold garland with a hand-made 3D snowflake!

You will need:
Gold/Silver Garland (Christmas clearance??!)
Push Pins-to attach to wall
And of course a 3D paper snowflake :

White printer paper (or whatever color or type of paper you want really; this is just how I made my version)
Gold acrylic paint & paint brush
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
Glue
Mini clothes pins *optional
Stapler

To make the snowflake I followed this video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tmhFQpruyE ; I am going to show you how to turn this snowflake into a decoration for winter.

I used gold acrylic paint on one side of my white paper. I let it dry till it was just a little sticky still, that way when I bent the paper it didn't crinkle, but it would dry hard in the curled position it should be.

To hold the glued parts together while they dried I used mini clothes pins.

After assembling the snowflake, I let it dry completely. Then I used a pushpin at the top and stuck it to the center of my wall. Then I took gold and silver garland and placed it on my wall (with push pins) with the snowflake being in the center.

An alternative to this would be making regular paper snowflakes and pining them or clipping them to the garland as well!

Holiday Diy!

The Holiday's are approaching fast, only about one month till Christmas! I am going to show you some quick and easy diy's for these upcoming holidays! I have a diy ornament garland, a lighted tinsel (is lighted a word...?), a different take on the usual ornaments in a jar, and a cute jar with pins! Enjoy!

First, for the ornament garland you will need: ornaments, a ruler, scissors, and ribbon.

The ornaments I picked up are Jaclyn Smith 12ct ornaments from kmart. Which are 33% off in store or 50% off online right now!

Side note here... Now, I never shop at Kmart but I happened to be in there today to pick up a Christmas tree that was only $15!!! My mom showed me this amazing deal and now we have a tree for our basement as well as our living room. Who knows, maybe one day I'll have enough space in my bedroom for this 6 foot tree. This tree is actually, surprisingly, really great! It is only 3 parts, so it takes minutes to put together. It looks bare at first but once you spread out the branches it's actually a really nice tree!

The steps are pretty easy. First measure out how long you want your garland to be, and cut it. Then every 5in tie on an ornament. I put one ornament on at a time and then tied it. I used 8 ornaments. Then I pinned it to my wall with thumb tacks. 2 on each side and 1 in the middle. Now I don't have to go buy $15 garland for my wall! Yay! You could even add to this with tinsel, or letters!

Next, I have the candy jar. This a super east thing to do with things lying around in your Christmas boxes. To start, I used a glass jar I had, old Bath & Body Works candles work great! I just added one "layer" of small, silver (matte & shiny) ornaments, then topped it off with old sliver tinsel (that was basically falling apart but looks great in a jar). Then I took a small jar, which used to be a small Bath & Body Works candle, and added a couple chocolates to it. I placed the small jar inside the big one and TA-DA! Now you have little munchies while your work or hang out.

These next 2 are very simple, just tips for items you may have in your home.

To create a "lighted tinsel" effect I just took lights with silver wire around them (that I got at a garage sale) and folded the strand in half to have more lights per tinsel. Then I doubled up my tinsel (on sale Jaclyn Smith tinsel from Kmart too) and wrapped it around the lights!! Super cute and easy!

Lastly, the pins in a jar. A couple years ago (or was it last year?) JcPenny gave out holiday pins with codes on the back for deals! I saved every one I got and didn't know what to do with them because they were so cute. So . . . I put them in a jar (with paper in the middle of the jar) and placed a bow around the top! I'll admit I precisely placed each pin so it faced the outside, haha!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE! Today I bring you a Halloween DIY....

It's very easy, made in less than hour with things you have in your house!

You will need:

Garland cut to the length desired for your head: I had orange fall garland that I used
Black paint: I used black acrylic paint I had handy
Paint brush
Black stretchable spider webbing
Scissors: to cut garland and black stretchable spider webbing
Newspaper
Glitter: I used glitter eyeshadow!

Lay out newspaper where you will be painting
Cut the garland to your desired size
Take your paint and paint brush and paint all over. I found it easiest to pour a blob and then dip and paint the garland
While it is still wet, sprinkle your glitter all around (be sure to get both sides!)
Now at this point you can do two things depending on the amount of time you have; you can let it dry for a while or, as I did, use a hair dryer and make it dry faster
Lastly you put the webbing on; find a good starting point to hook the web on (I did mine where the two ends meet) and just spread it around, hook it on leaves, twist it around the garland
Now place it on your head and smile! You have a cute, black, sparkly flower crown for Halloween.

I took my plain bulletin board and added some cute decorations from Michael's to it!

You can use any kind of yarn, string, or ribbon for the clip holder. Using smaller ribbon works best so that the mini clothespins will fit. I used 2 push pins and put them on both ends of the sting to hang it up on the board. Then I put 2 or 3 movie tickets on each clip. I also added another string for other random things I may have. I used washi tape to add a bit of pattern for when I hang paper or notes up.

EASY DIY

Here is a cute way to take a used Bath & Body Works mini candle and turn it into a cute craft supplies holder. I just ran hot water in the candle until the wax started to melt. Then, I scraped it out with a paper towel. I washed it out with some soap and water and voila! you have a little jar. They even fit a few washi tapes perfectly. They look great stacked on a desk or neatly lined in a desk drawer!

This is also a sneak peak at my next 2 posts. One on Tuesday will be planner supplies, and then the next one will be a DIY bulletin board decoration-thingy, haha! Hope you enjoy the rest of your week! Remember to smile and drink coffee! ^_^

WHITE WASHING MY BED

ITEMS I USED

I bought the FJELLSE Bed Frame from IKEA for my new bed. It came in untreated solid wood (pine) so I decided to paint it white to match my room. I went for a white washed look, because I love the antique look of it.

The website I went off of said to use 2 parts paint to 1 part water. I just kinda winged it, haha! But I loved the way it turned out. You can see in the video how much I used. I did have to mix it every once in a while because the paint settles down to the bottom.
